Rachel wins silverThe European Savate Assaut Championships were held in La Coruna, Spain from 12th to 15th November 2009.

The GBSF entered a team of eight fighters: Nathalie Scuiller (F48-52kg), Julie Gabriel (F52-56kg), Laura Gilbert (F56-60kg), Rachel Shore (F60-65kg), Lizzy Hawkins (F65-70kg), Dom Tsui (M60-65kg), James Antill (M70-75kg) and James Southwood (M75-80kg). The fighters were accompanied by Martin Ross (coach), Jasbir Nagi (referee/judge) and Alison Killing (judge).

As in previous years, the French team put in a strong performance taking a total of 10 gold medals. A growing force in international competitions, Serbian fighters came away with 4 gold medals, 3 silvers and a bronze. The Italian team also performed well, taking a total of 11 medals, including one gold. Top GB performers were Rachel Shore and James Antill, who both won silver medals, and Lizzy Hawkins, who took bronze.
